Alfalfa (Lucerne) Botanical name: Medicago Sativa (Pea Family) also known as Lucerne in South Africa
Alfalfa is a fine, golden coloured, quick sprouting seed and probably the best known sprout in health circles. It produces a deep green leaf that has a delicious mild flavour plus great nutritional properties.
Nutritional Value: Alfalfa is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol, and a good source of Protein, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Thiamin, Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Selenium, also a very food source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Folate, Potassium and Manganese..
Cumin Botanical name: Cuminum cyminum
Cumin is a small grass-like seed. Widely popular for it's distinctive aroma and flavour, Cumin seed is a commonly found ingredients in the North African, Middle Eastern, Western Chinese, Indian, Cuban and Northern Mexican Cuisine. The seeds contain numerous phyto-chemicals that are reported to have antioxidant, carminative and anti-flatulent properties.
Nutritional Value: These seeds are an excellent source of dietary fibre, are low in saturated fats and Sodium, and very low in Cholesterol. They contain Thiamin, Phosphorus, Potassium and Copper, and are a very good source of Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Manganese.
Fenugreek Botanical name: Trigonella Foenum-graecum
Fenugreek is an irregular shaped, golden coloured seed with a pungent smell. It is frequently used as a spice in Indian cuisine. When sprouted it has a milder flavour.

Onion Botanical name: Allum Cepa Var
Onion seed is small, flat, black and irregular shaped. We use brown onion seed which is the highest quality. Allium sprouts are unlike other seeds as they produce the root first.
Nutritional Value: Onion is very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin B6, Folate, Potassium and Manganese, and a very food source of Vitamin C. It has a high sugar content.
Japanese Radish Botanical name: Raphanus Sativus
Japanese Radish is a medium sized, oval, rusty coloured seed. If you like radishes you're going to love radish sprouts. Every radish sprout seems to have the flavour of a fully grown radish. One of the easiest seeds to sprout and great for growing as Micro greens.
Nutritional Value: Low in Saturated Fat, very low in cholesterol, and a good source of Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Magnesium, Copper and Manganese, also a very good source of Dietary fibre, Vitamin C, Folate and Potassium.
Red Cabbage Botanical name: Brassica Oleracea var. Capitata f Rubra
A small, dark, typical Brassica Seed. The sprouts have a mild cabbage flavour, and a lovely red colour. It is considered to be more nutritious than the more common green variety as it contains Polyphenols which are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Grows into a wonderful microgreen.
Nutritional Value: Low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol, it is a good source of Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folate, Calcium, Iron and Magnesium, and a very good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Potassium and Manganese. However a large portion of the calories in this food come from sugars.
Red Clover Botanical name: Trifolium Pratense
Red Clover is a small, oval seed, varying in colour from cream to brown. Red Clover has a similar taste to Alfalfa, being mild and green. It is very nutritious, and considered especially beneficial for women, particularly during menopause, as it contains Isoflavones which are reported to act similarly to Estrogens. Nutritional Value: This food is low in Saturated Fat and Sodium, and very low in Cholesterol.
