Method: Steam distilled.
Colour: pale yellow.
Consistency: Thin
Perfumery note: middle.

Aroma: Fresh, floral, rose like.

  • Palmarosa is so named because of it’s rose-like scent, also known as Indian geranium for the same reason, they are in no way related.
  • The plant is a tall grass, of the same family as Citronella and Lemongrass.
  • Palmarosa is used as Rose oil substitute, or added to it to make it more economical.
  • The main use of this oil is in skin products, it is antiseptic, anti viral, and anti bacterial, so is good for feet, heel cracks and athlete’s foot.
  • Used in skin lotions it is hydrating and anti aging, as well as soothing.
  • Add Palmarosa oil to a carrier and massage affected area to relieve pain.
  • In aromatherapy it is considered a relaxing and uplifting oil and is used to alleviate stress, exhaustion and nervousness. 

Warnings:
There are no specific warnings, Palmarosa is listed as GRAS, but it is always advisable to do a skin sensitivity test, and to avoid during pregnancy unless used under professional supervision
